The Redlands Animal Shelter recently celebrated the groundbreaking of their new modular kennels, marking a significant milestone that hits particularly close to home for our family. This expansion represents more than just additional space—it's about creating opportunities for more life-changing connections between animals and families. A Personal Connection to the MissionThe Redlands Animal Shelter has held a very special place in our hearts over the years. We've been blessed to rescue multiple beautiful pets from this facility, each one bringing immeasurable joy to our family. Our most recent addition was a stunning all-black German Shepherd originally named Wolverine, whom we eventually renamed Bear after bringing him home. Bear was truly a gentleman with a gentle spirit—the kind of dog that reminds you why rescue animals make such incredible companions. One of his first adventures with us was an outing to Yosemite Valley, where his calm demeanor and grateful nature shone through as he explored new territory with the confidence that comes from finally having a forever home. Expanding Capacity, Expanding HopeThe shelter's expansion will include 24 new individual kennel spaces, each equipped with climate-controlled interiors and outdoor areas constructed with durable materials. Redlands Mayor Pro Tem Marc Shaw expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, emphasizing how it will enable the shelter to accommodate more animals while providing higher quality care. Current Adoption OpportunitiesRight now, 49 animals are available for adoption at the shelter, including cats and dogs of various breeds and ages. Each represents a potential Bear—a loyal companion waiting for someone to see their unique potential and offer them a second chance. The beauty of the Redlands Animal Shelter is their accessible approach to adoption. Those interested can visit during regular hours without needing an appointment, making it easy for families to meet their potential new family member when the timing feels right.
