The Museum of Redlands Opens, Art Takes Over State Street, and Foreigner Plays Next Door
No DeLorean needed. A band out front, a vintage flight simulator inside, and the rain clears Friday. This replaces the old preheader so it hints at the two new pieces: the Back to the Future article and the storm opening. One hundred characters is the top of your range.

The Museum of Redlands Opens, Art Takes Over State Street, and Foreigner Plays Next Door

Free admission, 13 debut exhibits and the Fourth of July Band on Saturday, 50-plus artists downtown on Sunday, and the Halloween-weekend Fright Nights lineup I promised you.

Redlands Kid's family dream come true.

From the Groves

Why This Matters

If the rain is still coming down while you read this, you are not imagining it. Showers and thunderstorms rolled in Wednesday night, and the National Weather Service expects them to keep going through Thursday, with around an inch of rain possible in some spots before it tapers off Thursday evening.

Give yourself extra time on the roads this morning, and if you had anything outdoors on the calendar for Thursday, call ahead before you head out.
Then the sun comes back. Friday clears up, and Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny with highs in the upper 70s.

Good timing, because Saturday at 10 AM, after 26 years of work, the Museum of Redlands opens its doors. I gave you the backstory in September. Now all you have to do is show up.
Here is what else made the cut this week:
• The Museum of Redlands grand opening, with the Fourth of July Band out front
• A Sunday Art Walk that fills State Street for a good cause
• Eight international medals for a Redlands marmalade maker
• Eighty voices opening a season, a villain game show, and $15 stand-up
• Foreigner two nights at Yaamava’, and the Halloween-weekend Fright Nights titles
Let’s get into what’s happening around town.

Saturday at 10 AM, the Museum of Redlands Finally Opens
Some projects in this town take a weekend. This one took 26 years. The Museum of Redlands opens Saturday, October 24, at 10 AM at 1 N. Center St., inside the reimagined Redlands Daily Facts building. Admission is free.
It starts outside. The Redlands Fourth of July Band plays, special guests say a few words, and the giveaways are keepers: a commemorative pin and a Joseph Stoddard watercolor postcard. Then you walk in to 13 debut exhibits, including an interactive timeline of local history, a vintage flight simulator, and a deep look at the citrus industry that built the streets we drive every day. The museum is managed by A.K. Smiley Public Library’s Special Collections team, so it is in good hands.
Here is why it matters. A lot of what made Redlands has been sitting in storage or in somebody’s memory. Now it has a home downtown, in the same building where the paper that covered all of it was printed. Opening day runs until 4 PM. Can’t make Saturday? Regular hours start Wednesday, October 28: Wednesday through Sunday, 11 AM to 4 PM, still free. Bring the kids, bring your parents, and ask the oldest person in your group what they remember about that building.

🎭 ARTS & CULTURE
Fifty Artists, One Street, and a Cause Worth Showing Up For
Sunday, October 25, from noon to 5 PM, downtown turns into a gallery. The Downtown Redlands Art Walk takes over State Street from Orange Street to Seventh Street, plus Fifth Street from the Ed Hales parking lot to Umbrella Alley. Those streets close to cars from 7 AM to 7 PM, so park a little farther out and walk in.
You get more than 50 artists, a Kid’s Zone, live music, a car show and food vendors, with every downtown restaurant a few steps away. It is listed as free. The day raises awareness for The Kid’s Cures Foundation, which helps families fighting for a child’s life with gift cards for gas, food and supplies, and gives those kids art supplies so they can put what they are going through on paper.
Two easy ways to help. Bring a pack of new art supplies, because they are collecting them at the event. Then stop and decorate a card for one of those kids. After that, buy something from a local artist and carry it home. That is a Sunday well spent.

🎬 Special: Back To The Future Day

Great Scott, We Passed It

Wednesday was October 21. If that date makes you think of a DeLorean, you are not alone.
In Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel forward to October 21, 2015. Hoverboards. Flying cars. Self-lacing sneakers. When the movie hit theaters in 1989, that date felt impossibly far away. Now it is eleven years behind us, which means all of us are living further in the future than Marty ever went. We are still waiting on the hoverboards.
Here is the part that sticks with me. The movie was never really about the gadgets. It was about a kid figuring out that his town’s past and its future are connected, and that the choices people make over the years decide what a place becomes. Hill Valley had a clock tower at the center of it all, and a whole story built around saving it.
Redlands has its own version of that story, and it opens Saturday. The Museum of Redlands at 1 N. Center St. is the closest thing this town has to a time machine: 13 debut exhibits, a vintage flight simulator, and a walk through our history from the citrus groves forward. No plutonium required, and admission is free.
So celebrate a day late. Put the trilogy on this week, then go see where Redlands has been on Saturday morning. Where we go from here is up to us.

Beall’s small-batch citrus kitchen, brought home eight medals from the 2026 World Marmalade Awards in England, including silver for its Redlands Navel. You can buy a jar in the new museum’s store, at Gerrards Market or at Feel Good Market. Want to meet him?
