Redlands Animal Shelter has broken ground on a new modular kennel expansion, a major step for local pets and families alike.
With deep ties to the shelter, many residents—including families like ours—have found beloved companions here, such as our gentle German Shepherd, Bear, who thrived in his new home after adoption.
The expansion adds 24 climate-controlled kennels with outdoor areas, promising safer, more comfortable spaces for animals awaiting adoption.
Mayor Pro Tem Marc Shaw praised the improvements for elevating care and boosting the shelter’s ability to serve more homeless pets.
Currently, 49 animals—dogs and cats of all types—are looking for families at the 504 Kansas Street facility, with walk-in visits welcome during business hours.
Every successful adoption is a testament to Redlands’ compassion, and the new kennels represent brighter futures for pets and adopters alike.

Local students in San Bernardino County have a unique opportunity this week to explore a future at the nation’s five elite federal service academies.
Congressman Pete Aguilar will host a Service Academy Night at Cajon High School tonight at 5:30 PM, where representatives will answer questions about admissions and life at each academy.
The excitement comes as the U.S. Naval Academy claims the title of America’s top public school, shining a light on the remarkable education and leadership experience these institutions provide.
Congressman Jay Obernolte’s team is also holding focused sessions on September 23 in Hesperia and September 24 in Yucaipa, highlighting the competitive application process and congressional nominations vital for acceptance.
