Trivia Question❓

In what year was the city of Redlands, CA founded and by whom?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Something Wicked This Way Comes… to Redlands

Sports victories, secret events, and the IRS crawling out of its crypt, get the full story before the weekend hits.

Hey Redlands,
Liz and I kicked off our Halloween celebrations early this week by heading out to see "Goodboy" – a genuinely creepy horror movie where the actor is... a dog.

Yes, you read that right. It was the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit, and now we're ready for what's shaping up to be an epic Halloween weekend in Redlands.

The weather is perfect, the fall vibes are strong, and our little city is buzzing with great things happening. Let's dive in.

🌳 AROUND THE GROVES

The Redlands High girls volleyball team made school history, defeating San Clemente 3-2 in the CIF-Southern Section Division II second round, earning their 31st victory.

They now advance to the quarterfinals at Santa Margarita.

In the past, the Terriers have won a section title and made it to the CIF-State tournament.

Meanwhile, the University of Redlands football team won a double overtime game against California Lutheran.

In other sports news, Redlands East Valley defeated Yucaipa in football, and Redlands High's girls tennis team finished the season with a perfect record.

Lastly, Beaumont's golf team won a league title and two players advanced to individual finals. Photo Credit to John Murphy

Some fantastic news from our local schools! Redlands Unified School District and eleven of our RUSD schools have been recognized on the 2025 California Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership. This honor celebrates not just high achievement, but also progress in closing achievement gaps and supporting all students.

It's a testament to our dedicated teachers, involved parents, and hardworking students. Redlands has always been a community that values education, and this recognition shows it.

Hands On Knitting Center Reopens with Beautiful New Look

After a two-week renovation, the beloved Hands On Knitting Center at 912 New York Street has reopened its doors, and it looks amazing. The shop is brighter, more welcoming, and the communal knitting table now has lighting that's better than most people have at home. The ten partners who run this gem have created more than just a yarn shop – it's a true community gathering spot where fiber artists of all levels come together to create, learn, and connect. If you've been thinking about picking up knitting or crocheting, there's no better place to start.

City Invests $2.3M in Keeping Our Groves Thriving

Redlands wouldn't be Redlands without our iconic citrus groves. Last week, the City Council approved a $2.3 million contract with Larry Jacinto Farming to provide as-needed farming services for city-owned groves.

This is a significant investment in preserving the agricultural heritage that defines our community. From the scent of orange blossoms in spring to the historic groves that dot our landscape, citrus farming is woven into the fabric of who we are.

It's great to see the city putting resources behind keeping that tradition alive for generations to come.

Redlands is in for an adventure this Friday night with a secret Halloween comedy event from Don’t Tell Comedy.

Imagine this: BYOB, surprise location, and comics you’ve seen on Netflix—all revealed the morning of the show.

Tickets are $27 for a 21+ crowd, offering a date-night alternative for those craving something new beyond the usual restaurants.

The fun kicks off at 8:30 pm, with the venue—somewhere hidden in Redlands—announced via text or email Friday morning.

This isn't a slick corporate franchise—Don’t Tell partners with local venues, bringing stand-up to unexpected corners of our city and fostering the kind of community spirit Redlanders love.

Expect laughs, local vibes, and a story you’ll be swapping for years.

If you’re ready to embrace the unknown, grab your ticket and say yes to the mystery.

When the IRS Comes Knocking from the Grave 👻

You’d think with the government “shutdown,” the IRS would be buried for a while—right?

Wrong.

Even from the grave, the IRS never sleeps. While politicians play tricks in D.C., the tax collectors are still sending Final Notices and Intent to Levy letters that drain bank accounts faster than Dracula drains a vein.

Every October, folks get spooked by ghosts and goblins, but the real fright comes in a white envelope stamped Internal Revenue Service. If you’ve got one of those sitting on the counter, don’t wait for it to turn into a financial horror story.

Here’s the truth: even when the IRS slows down, the computers don’t. Automated collections can still freeze your paycheck, seize your account, or haunt your peace of mind long after Halloween’s over.

At TaxDebtConsultant.com, we specialize in stopping the nightmares—before the IRS sinks its teeth in.
