Summer in February, Pancakes for 51 Years, This Is Redlands at Its Best |
From Troop 11's Eagle Scouts to the Redlands Mall transformation, plus your weekend guide to Lincoln's 85th Pilgrimage, new coffee spots, and live music |
What an Amazing Week This Has Been. Hard to believe we're dealing with summer temperatures in the middle of February—but honestly? I'm not complaining. One of the beautiful things about living in California, especially right here in Redlands, is waking up to crystal blue skies, those gorgeous San Bernardino Mountains in the distance, and warm sunshine while much of the country spent last week freezing. But this week isn't just about the weather. It's about community. And few things represent the heart of Redlands more than Troop 11's Annual Pancake Breakfast. This marks 51 years of pancakes, service, and building young men into leaders. This one holds a special place in my heart. My son Andrew was a member of Troop 11 for five, eventually earning his Eagle Scout rank and serving as one of the troop leaders. I watched him grow alongside so many incredible young men—many of whom went on to serve in the military, become firefighters, teachers, and leaders in their own communities. Tickets are just $5 (you can grab them at Vons, Albertsons, Lowe's, Redlands Stater Bros, or Gerrards Market), and trust me—it's more than a meal. It's a chance to invest in these scouts and show them what a strong, supportive community looks like. In fact, the picture below is from many years ago—back in 2012 or 2013—when Andrew and his fellow scouts were serving up stacks and smiles. Let's keep this tradition alive. See you Sunday morning. Now let's dive into what else is happening in Redlands this week… |

🌳 AROUND THE GROVES |
🌳 AROUND THE GROVESA few other things we noticed around town this week:
|
Redlands tax expert Carlos Samaniego is tackling a major headache for Inland Empire real estate agents, last-minute buyer tax issues that threaten to tank home deals at the finish line. With over two decades helping families resolve IRS debt, Samaniego has seen countless transactions derailed by hidden tax liens or unfiled returns uncovered days before closing. He’s now sharing strategies to rescue these deals through a free, interactive workshop at the East Valley Association of Realtors in Redlands. Locally, the surge of self-employed and small business buyers has made tax complications more common. Samaniego draws on his own past struggles with the IRS, emphasizing a hands-on, problem-solving approach he honed after overcoming his financial crisis. His mission: Empower local real estate professionals to protect their clients, save more transactions, and avoid costly lost commissions. Space is limited to 35 attendees; the session promises practical tips, real scripts, and actionable knowledge without any sales pitch. Read More... |
